The UHV women's soccer team will look to continue its unbeaten start to the season when Concordia-Texas comes to town Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
The Jaguars (0-0-2) extended their regular season unbeaten streak to nine matches with draws against Texas Wesleyan and Southwestern Assemblies of God last week.
"This will be another good test for our team," said head coach Adrian Rigby. "We've seen some good things in our first two games. Saturday will be an opportunity to hopefully build on that and prepare us for conference play."
Through two matches, the Jaguars have scored five goals from five different players. Kaitlyn Kongdara, Estelle Flanagan and Katerin Morales each scored in the draw with SAGU on Saturday.
Clara Strand and Kaydee Cox each scored in last week's season opener against Texas Wesleyan.
Trine Stenderup-Jorgensen has provided a team-leading three assists from her center back position. She provided an assist on Kongdara's opening goal against SAGU while she assisted on both goals against Texas Wesleyan.
UHV's 20.5 shots per game ranks 25th in the nation.
"It's been good to see veterans and new faces stepping up in our attack," Rigby said. "Having multiple players show the ability to score opens up the offense. If we can keep that up, it gives us a good chance to succeed."
Saturday will be the seventh meeting all-time between the Jaguars and Tornados with UHV holding a 3-1-2 edge. The two teams battled to a 2-2 draw in last year's season opener in which Maja Eriksson provided two assists while Flanagan also had an assist.
Concordia enters Saturday with an 0-2-1 record after a loss to Cal Lutheran on Wednesday.
