HOUSTON – Mosiah Bonney has been consistently good as a defender for the Texas A&M University-Victoria men's soccer team.
But the Cochrane, Dominica, native delivered his best work with a game-winning goal to give the Jaguars a 2-1 win over North American University at Houston Sports Park and send his team back to the Red River Athletic Conference tournament.
A&M-Victoria (8-8-2, 4-5-2) has now qualified for all but one RRAC tournament since joining the league in 2015. The Jaguars, seeded sixth, will get a rematch with three-seed Xavier (La.) in New Orleans on Thursday, Nov. 6, at a time and location to be announced later.
Bonney scored the winner – his second goal of the season – in the 65th minute on an assist from Daniel Menyoli.
Baillie O'Reilly opened the scoring by converting a penalty in the 32nd minute. It was his sixth goal this season and third from the penalty spot.
NAU scored in the 54th minute to make it 1-1 and set the stage for Bonney's heroics in the final 25 minutes.
Senior goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli made three saves on Saturday, including stopping a penalty in the 38th minute to preserve the 1-0 lead at the time.
