The University of Houston-Victoria women's soccer team fell to Oklahoma City University, 3-0, on Saturday in the team's season opener at The Cage.
This is the Jaguars' first season-opening loss in six seasons.
The Jaguars held the Stars (2-0-1) scoreless in the first half with junior goalkeeper Jamie Noriega making one of her three saves on a penalty from OCU's Yami Ponce in the 56th minute.
UHV's back line of Noriega, Rosa Reyes, Cheyenne Grant, Miriam Ballart and Ariana Briones held up well considering they faced 23 shots from Oklahoma City.
The Stars didn't score until the 66th minute on a corner kick with Kayleigh Haygood scoring. Saizlee Carlton found Amelia Horsford twice after that, first in the 85th minute and then again in the 89th minute.
Saturday was the last game ever played in the UHV jerseys.
The Jaguars will play their first official game as Texas A&M University-Victoria at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, against Nelson University.
