METAIRIE, La. – Despite a valiant effort by freshman goalkeeper Franciezca Blancaflor, the UHV women's soccer team fell on the road Thursday.
The Jaguars dropped a 2-0 result to Red River Athletic Conference foe Xavier at Lafreniere Park.
Blancaflor, a freshman making her fourth career start, saved a career-high seven shots. It's also the Jaguars' (5-5-5, 3-4-3) high water mark for saves this season.
UHV was limited to five total shots in the loss with four of them on goal. Trine Stenderup-Jorgensen had a team-leading two shots, both on goal. Andrea Aborqui and Audilia Vargas each had a shot on goal.
The Gold Nuggets (8-4-0, 8-2-0) had 19 total shots. Julia de Souza opened the game's scoring in the 28th minute before Amora Altmon doubled Xavier's lead 10 minutes later.
The Jaguars next head to Houston on Saturday to face North American University at 1 p.m.
