Jags in good position after Day 1 of UHV Fall Classic
The UHV women's golf team is just six strokes back of the lead after the first day of the UHV Fall Classic.
The Jaguars shot a team score of 347 at the Victoria Country Club on Monday to sit in fourth place, six shots behind University of St. Thomas (TX).
Senior Mia Lerma led the way for UHV, shooting an opening round 85 to sit in seventh place and three shots behind the three-way tie atop the leaderboard with St. Thomas' Trinity Le, Our Lady of the Lake's Kendall Ward and Blinn College's Emily Madeley.
Senior Caitlyn Niemietz was in a tie for eighth after an opening-round 86 at VCC.
Emmily Bickelmann (87, T-12) and Kaitlin Lopez (89, T-15) were both inside the Top 15 to help put UHV in a good position heading into the final day of the tournament.
The tournament will resume at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
