A&M-Victoria's Madelyn Butler named RRAC Pitcher of the Week
WACO – Texas A&M University-Victoria softball's Madelyn Butler has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Butler earned the honor after delivering a pair of strong outings in the Jaguars' weekend sweep of Xavier (La.). The sophomore right‑hander went 2-0 across 8.2 innings, allowing just three earned runs while striking out three and walking only one.
She opened the series with a complete‑game performance in a 4-2 victory on March 20, scattering seven hits and working efficiently to keep the Gold Nuggets off balance. The Leander native retired 17 of the first 20 batters she faced.
Less than 24 hours later, Butler returned in relief and helped secure a 12-7 win to secure a series sweep. She threw 1.1 innings, allowing one earned run and striking out one to lock down her second victory in as many days.
The weekly award marks the fourth time this season an A&M‑Victoria softball player has been recognized by the conference and the second time a Jaguar has earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Butler has been a steady presence for the Jaguars throughout the 2026 campaign. Through 10 appearances, she owns a 2-2 record with a 3.94 ERA over 26.2 innings pitched. She has issued just five walks while holding opponents to 15 earned runs.
A&M‑Victoria (17-10, 8-4) continues conference play this week with a road trip to Hobbs, New Mexico, for a three-game series against University of the Southwest this Friday and Saturday.
