PINEVILLE, La. – The Texas A&M University-Victoria softball team closed the LSU Alexandria tournament with a split on Saturday.
The Jaguars opened up the day with a 6-0 win over Central Baptist College before a narrow 3-1 loss to No. 13-ranked LSU Alexandria to close out the tournament.
With the results on Saturday, A&M-Victoria is now 6-2 on the young season.
Angelina Morales extended her hitting streak to three gamed by going 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI and continues to lead the team with a .476 batting average.
Game 1 vs. Central Baptist
A four-run fifth inning helped the Jaguars cruise past Central Baptist.
Kelsey Perez scored on a wild pitch in the second inning before Khamryn Werdlow drove in Fayth Hoover in the fourth inning.
Hoover earned an RBI in the fifth inning by driving in Morales while Madison Carr delivered an two-run single to cap the scoring with a third run scoring on the hit in Keily Rosario thanks to an error by the center fielder.
Morales, Carr, Deeandra Maldonado and Cristela Trevino had multi-hit games in the Game 1 win as the Jaguars' scattered 11 hits.
Zoe Hardy improved to 3-1 in the circle after pitching six shutout innings, striking out seven while allowing just five hits. Haley Noska pitched a perfect seventh inning to seal the win.
Game 2 vs. LSU Alexandria
The Jaguars kept it close with the No. 13-ranked Generals from LSUA.
A&M-Victoria scored first with a sacrifice fly by Morales before the Generals scored their three runs in thirst and third innings.
Morales, Alyssa Carter, Kitty Coe and Daizie Fuentez had the Jaguars' four hits in Game 2.
Madelyn Butler suffered the loss, throwing six innings and allowing just two earned runs.
Next Up
The Jaguars' open up Red River Athletic Conference play on Feb. 20 at Texas College.
