Gratton, Boonsrirat go low, Armendarez posts Top 10 finish in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH – Brandon Gratton and Lucky Boonsrirat saved their best for last for the Texas A&M University-Victoria men's golf team.
Gratton and Boonsrirat each shot 1-under 70s on the final day of the Texas Wesleyan Spring Invitational at Squaw Creek Golf Course. That helped the Jaguars to a three-round total of 290-290-287—867 and a sixth-place finish.
Gratton had the highlight of the day, making an eagle on the 562-yard, Par 5 first hole. That was one of three birdie-or-better holes for the sophomore from Edmonton, Alberta. He finished 74-72-70—216 to finish in a tie for 17th.
Boonsrirat had three birdies against two bogeys on his card to finish 75-81-70—226 and move 13 spots up the leaderboard to 50th.
Ethan Armendarez turned in his first Top 10 finish since joining the Jaguars in January.
The Fort Worth native had a couple of birdies on Tuesday to post a final-round 72 and finish 69-73-72—214 and share ninth place.
Paul Chopin had a team-leading four birdies in the final round to go 72-74-75—221 and finish in a tie for 33rd.
Florian Simon rounded out the Jaguars' scores on Tuesday, going 77-71-76—224 to finish in a tie for 44th.
The Jaguars next tournament is the Red River Athletic Conference tournament at Rockwind Community Links in Hobbs, New Mexico, April 27-28.
