UHV men tied for third after two rounds at UHV Fall Classic
The University of Houston-Victoria men's No. 1 golf team cut three cut three shots off their opening round score Monday to jump into a tie for third place at the UHV Fall Classic at Victoria Country Club.
After posting an opening round 305, the Jaguars joined the rest of the eight-team field in waiting out an hour-and-a-half lightning delay that was called just after the start of the second round.
The Jaguars didn't let the delay affect them as they turned in a consistent round to post a 302 for a 607 score going into Tuesday's final round.
Cristian Esparza (JR/Houston, TX) posted the low second round to pace the Jaguars with a one-under 71 for a 148 score. Esparza is tied for fourth individually. Behind Esparza, Adrian Saenz (SO/Brownsville, TX), Juan David Coy (SO/Bucaramanga, Colombia) and Kirby Amburg (SO/Richmond, TX) each carded scores of 77 for the 302 total.
Saenz, Coy and Amburg are all in at 153 and tied for 13th after posting rounds of 76 in the first round. James Rollins (FR/Liberty Hill, TX) added a pair of 78s for a 156.
Our Lady of the Lake No. 1 holds the team lead with a 301-294-595, while Houston St. Thomas is nine shots back with a 311-293-604. UHV is tied with the OLLU B-team.
