A&M-Victoria's Kaiser takes home final RRAC Baseball Player of the Week honor
WACO — Texas A&M University–Victoria baseball infielder Connor Kaiser was named Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week after a dominant performance in the RRAC Opening Round series against Jarvis Christian over the weekend.
A graduate senior infielder from College Station, Texas, Kaiser's weekly honor marks the eighth time this season an A&M-Victoria player has earned RRAC Player or Pitcher of the Week recognition. This is the last week of weekly honors.
Kaiser hit .625 (5-for-8) with seven RBIs and two runs scored to help lead the Jaguars (35-13) to a two-game sweep, advancing A&M–Victoria into the RRAC Championship Rounds. The graduate senior made his impact felt in both games, providing key run production from the middle of the lineup while also recording eight assists and two putouts over the two games at third base.
In Friday's opening game, a 10-0 victory, Kaiser went 2-for-3 and drove in a career-high five runs. He delivered consistently in run-scoring situations as the Jaguars jumped out early and never looked back in the series opener.
Kaiser followed with another strong outing in Saturday's 11-4 win in Game 2. He collected three hits and added two more RBIs, highlighted by a two-run triple in the eighth inning that helped put the game out of reach and secured the sweep.
On the season, Kaiser is batting .329 with 44 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He has produced 11 doubles, two triples and has stolen 10 bases while reaching base at a .458 clip. His all-around offensive production has been a steady force for the Jaguars, who rank 20th nationally in batting average (.327), 13th in doubles (106) and 25th in runs (415).
The Jaguars open play in the RRAC Championship Rounds against Our Lady of the Lake. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Pilot Field in Shreveport, Louisiana.
