A&M-Victoria’s Zeplin garners RRAC Pitcher of the Week honors
WACO – Blane Zeplin has had a strong start to his senior season after transferring to Texas A&M University-Victoria.
The Victoria native is 2-0 this year and coming off a career-best performance on Saturday for the Jaguars baseball team, which is 5-1 and riding a five-game winning streak after a series sweep of Wiley University over the weekend.
On Monday, the Red River Athletic Conference recognized that performance by naming Zeplin its second Pitcher of the Week for the 2026 season.
"It means a lot," Zeplin said. "Every time I go out there, I just want to give my team a chance to win. The offense really freed me up with all the run support. I was able to fill up the zone, stress-free. I'm happy I was able to help the team extend the win streak and we can keep this train rolling."
Zeplin, a graduate of Victoria West, made his return to Riverside Stadium on Saturday a memorable one.
The 6-foot-4 right-hander pitched a one-hit gem while striking out a career-high 10 batters across six innings pitched as the Jaguars rolled to a 9-2 win over Wiley in Game 2 of the series. He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the seven-inning contest.
His two wins are tied for the most in the NAIA through two weeks. The 13 strikeouts he's thrown are tied for the RRAC lead with teammate Jonathan Jones.
The Jaguars rank 19th nationally in team ERA with a 3.19 and 11th in strikeouts with 52 over six games.
A&M-Victoria is set to face Nelson University on Wednesday at Travis Field in Bryan, Texas. Then the Jaguars return home for Brady Parker Weekend presented by South Texas Orthopedic Specialists and Crossroads Bank.
