The University of Southwest Mustangs scored solo goals in each half Saturday to down the University of Houston-Victoria women's soccer team 2-0 in a Red River Athletic Conference match at the Cage.
The Jaguars fall to 2-5 on the year and 1-3 in conference, while the Mustangs improve to 8-2, 2-2 in conference.
Southwest goalkeeper Brittany Garrido recorded her fifth shutout of the season as she finished with four saves.
Naomi Morales put the Mustangs up 1-0 in the 17th minute and Alyssa Mayhew added an insurance goal off an assist from Dalia Lopez in the 53rd minute.
Both teams fired off 11 shots in the contest with the Mustangs holding an 8-4 edge in shots on goal.
Olivia Salas (FR/Victoria) paced UHV with three shots, while Kaitlyn Finger (FR/Mansfield, TX). Lauren Leslie (JR/Banknock, Scotland) and Zuzelane Sanchez (JR/Dallas, TX) each put up two shots with Jaiden Lauterbach (JR/Fort Worth, TX) and Jurnee Fernandez (JR/Fresno, CA) each getting off one.
UHV goalkeeper Amanda Bautista (SO/Houston, TX) finished with six saves.
The Jaguars return to action Thursday at Texas College for a 1 p.m. conference match.
