Both of the University of Houston-Victoria soccer teams will enter the 2017 season unranked in the NAIA Soccer Coaches' Top-25 poll this season.

The polls were released Tuesday with the University of Northwestern Ohio as the top women's team in the nation, and Hastings (Neb.) as the top men's program.

Both UHV programs began preseason drills this week and will get their first taste of action on Saturday when the Jaguars host Texas A&M-International in a pair of exhibition games at The Cage. The women's game is set for a 1 p.m. start, with the men to take the pitch at 3 p.m.

The UHV women return 10 players from last year's 12-5-1 squad that lost 1-0 to LSU-Alexandria in the first round of the Red River Athletic Conference tournament. The Jaguars compiled a 6-2-1 RRAC record last year and are 12-4-1 overall in conference after two years of competition.

The women's team has not been ranked in the NAIA Top 25 since week five of the poll in 2015 when the Jaguars were ranked No. 20. The Jaguars fell out of the top 25 poll the following week, but were receiving votes in the week 6 poll.

The UHV men return 13 players from last year's 11-6-1 team that reached the RRAC semifinals before dropping a 1-0 decision to Wiley College. The Jaguars finished RRAC play with a 5-3-1 and then defeated Texas College 5-1 in the opening round of the RRAC tournament.

The Jaguars have not been ranked in the NAIA poll since receiving votes in weeks four and five of the 2015 poll.

Only one RRAC team earned recognition in the NAIA Top 25 with the Our Lady of the Lake women opening the year at No. 24.

The Jaguars open the regular season on Sept. 2 when the women host Sul Ross State University in a 2 p.m. match, with the men hosting seventh-ranked William Carey in a 4 p.m. match at The Cage.
