University of Houston-Victoria golf coach Christi Cano today announced the signing of Joseph (Joey) Hunter to the UHV men's golf team.
Hunter is coming off an exceptional year at Traverse City West Senior High School in Traverse City, Mich., and is looking forward to being able to play golf year-round in Texas.
"I feel Joey will bring a lot to our team and we are looking forward to having him as part of the Jaguars family," said Cano.
He is a three-year varsity letter winner at Traverse City, competed in the Michigan State High School Finals twice and was a member of the Traverse City Record-Eagle All-Region boy's golf team in 2017. He was named the TCJGA Northern Michigan Junior Tour Player of the Year in 2015.
Outside of golf, Hunter is a third-degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, a Michigan state champion in powerlifting and an Eagle Scout.
"I chose UHV because of the reputation of the School of Business Administration and for the opportunity to play golf in Texas year-round," said Hunter in making his commitment.
Hunter plans to study marketing while attending UHV.
