After a high school career that included four straight trips to the regional tournament, Cuero High School senior Jocelyn Villafranca will be taking her skills to the next level.
Villafranca has signed a letter of intent to play golf for the University of Houston-Victoria women's golf program.
Villafranca has been a member of the Cuero varsity golf team for the past four years and has helped guide her team to the regional tournament all four years and a state appearance in 2014 when she was a freshman. The Lady Gobblers finished eight at the state tournament.
This past year she finished fourth in the District 30-4A Tournament and placed ninth individually at the Region IV-4A Tournament with a score of 86-91-177.
"It is a great opportunity as I can play golf while I receive an education," said Villafranca on her making her commitment to UHV.
A member of the National Honor Society and an honors graduate, Villafranca plans to study business while attending UHV.
