University of Houston-Victoria softball coach Lindsey Ortiz today announced the signing of Edna High School utility player Chasity Richmond to a letter of intent to play softball for the Jaguars in 2018.
Richmond, a four-year starter for the Cowgirls, helped guide her team to the bi-district playoffs this past season. She was also named first team all-district in the outfield.
As a freshman, she was named Edna's Newcomer of the Year and first team all-district at second base. As a sophomore, she was named her team's MVP and was second team all-district in the outfield as a junior.
She has succeeded in the classroom as well as on the field having been named first team all-academic all four years in high school.
"I love the school," said Richmond in making her commitment. "It feels like home. Not just because of the sports, but also because of the academics."
Richmond plans on studying nursing while attending UHV.
