PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – The University of Houston-Victoria men's golf team managed to scratch nine shots off its opening round score on Saturday to post a second round 306 at the 31st annual PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship at the PGA Golf Club.
Paced by the 1-under par 71 from James Rollins (FR/Liberty Hill, TX) on Saturday the Jaguars are in at 621 after 36 holes of the 54-hole event. Rollins managed to slice 10 shots off his opening-round 81 and is in at 152 going into Sunday's final round.
Rollins shares the individual lead with teammate Juan David Coy (SO/Bucaramanga, Colombia) who posted a second round 77 and is also at 152. Terry Strickland (FR/Missouri City, TX) and Cristian Esparza (JR/Houston, TX) each posted 79s on Saturday, while Adrian Saenz (SO/Brownsville, TX) is in with an 82.
While the Jaguars are the lone team competing in the NAIA Division, they would be tied for second in Division II, just five shots back of leader the University of West Alabama, coached by former UHV head coach Brian Williamson.
