FARMERS BRANCH – Haley Beam (SR/Pearland, Texas) tossed a two-hitter and the University of Houston-Victoria banged out 11 hits Friday as the Jaguars downed Langston University 12-0 in five innings in the second round of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament at Oran Good Park.


The second-seeded Jaguars improve to 32-17 with the win and will now face top-seeded LSU-Alexandria on Saturday in a 4 p.m. contest. The winner advances to Sunday's 1:30 p.m. championship game. Langston falls to 17-32 and will face Southwest in a 1:30 p.m. elimination game on Saturday.


Beam allowed just a first inning single and a double in the second and never let a runner past second base as she improved to 12-5.


Beam and the Jaguars got all the runs they would need in the first inning.


Gabby Davila (SO/Houston, TX) began the inning with a walk, moved to third on a one-out double to center by Aubri Hockenbury (SR/Santa Fe, TX). After Beam walked to load the bases, Davila was balked home for a 1-0 lead.


Emily Flores (FR/Houston, TX) then unleashed a two-out single to right scoring Hockenbury and Beam and the rout was on.


The Jaguars would add three unearned runs in the second for a 6-0 lead with an RBI double from Beam and an RBI single by Kathryn Wright (SR/Lindale, TX) sparking the inning.


Jamison Dumont (SO/Pleasanton, TX) started the six-run third inning uprising with a solo home run to left. It was her fourth home run of the season. Hockenbury would add a three-run triple and Wright would double home two more runs for a 12-0 lead.


In other tournament action Friday, Our Lady of the Lake defeated Southwest 4-3 and Langston upset Huston-Tillotson 5-4 in the opening round.


Huston-Tillotson will face OLLU on Saturday in an 11 a.m. elimination game, while Southwest and Langston will meet in a 1:30 p.m. elimination game. The winners will play at 6:30 p.m. in another elimination game in the double-elimination tournament.
