Emily Flores (FR/Houston, TX) collected five singles but her last two in each game helped key the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars to a doubleheader sweep over the Jarvis Christian Lady Bulldogs on Friday in Red River Athletic Conference action at the Victoria Youth Sports complex.

The freshman from Missouri City connected with a two-out single in the seventh inning of Game to help spark the Jaguars to a 5-4 come-from-behind win. Then, she slapped a single to left-center scoring two runs in the fifth in give the Jaguars a 12-3 run-rule win in Game 2.

Flores finished the day going 5-for-7 at the plate with four RBI and two runs as the Jaguars improved to 26-14 on the year and 17-5 in RRAC play. Jarvis Christian fell to 6-31, 2-16 RRAC.

The two teams wrap up the four-game series on Saturday with an 11 a.m. doubleheader at the Youth Sports Complex.

Aubri Hockenbury (SR/Santa Fe, TX) and Flores gave the Jaguars a 2-0 lead in the opening inning of Game 1 with back-to-back singles and Hockenbury made it 3-0 scoring on the backend of a double steal.

The Lady Bulldogs scored an unearned run in the third and then took a 4-3 advantage with a three-run fifth.

The Jaguars missed an opportunity to tie or go ahead in the sixth inning with runners at second and third with one out. But they didn't let the identical situation in the seventh inning slip away.

Gabby Davila (SO/Houston, TX), who was 4-for-7 in the two games, opened the seventh with a walk. Michelle Revels (SO/Corpus Christi, TX) then put down a sacrifice bunt and Haley Beam (SR/Pearland, Texas) doubled down the left-field line to tie the game at 4-4. After Hockenbury flied to left, Flores slapped a single to right-center to score Beam with the winning run.

Beam with the distance in the circle for the Jaguars to claim the win as she allowed four runs (two earned) on nine hits and a walk, while striking out six.

The Jaguars scored in all five innings of the nightcap and blew the game open with a five-run third.

Revels' RBI double and Hockenbury's RBI single gave the Jaguars a 2-0 lead in the first.

Davila would increase the lead to 4-0 in the second with a two-run triple before the Jaguars would send 10 players to the plate scoring five times in the third.

Hockenbury and Flores opened the third with singles and Kathryn Wright (SR/Lindale, TX) slapped a one-out double to center to score Hockenbury. Davila would strike again with a two-run single. The Jaguars would score the final two runs off an error and Davila's steal of home to make it 9-2.

Four walks would give the Jaguars a 10-2 lead after four innings, but the Lady Bulldogs kept the game alive for a short time on an RBI triple by Ashley Escalante.

But Beam opened the fifth being hit by a pitch and Hockenbury doubled before Flores finished the game.

Kelsey Tidrick (FR/Port Lavaca, TX) went the distance in the circle to improve to 5-1 as she allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks, while striking out one.
