As the 2017 season approaches, University of Houston-Victoria softball coaches Lindsey Ortiz continues to look ahead as she announced the signing of her fourth 2018 recruit this week.

Canyon Lake senior Carley Dubois recently signed her letter of intent to play softball for UHV beginning in 2018.

The 5-foot-3 senior has excellent speed and credentials as she lead the entire San Antonio area in stolen bases last season as a junior with 41, and also holds the Canyon Lake all-time stolen base record with 78 going into her senior year.

A varsity starter since her freshman year, she earned all-district first team honors the past three seasons and has been named the team's Defensive MVP all three years. She also earned recognition on the Texas Sports Writers Association's Class 4Aall-state honorable mention team as a junior.

She led her team with a .526 batting average last season and had a team leading 51 hits, while compiling a .608 slugging percentage. She scored 33 runs and had 12 RBIs in 30 games.

Off the field, she is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, PALS, FCA, Young Life and Emerging Leaders at Canyon Lake High School.

"I chose UHV because I love the atmosphere," said Dubois in signing with the Jaguars. "The excitement coming from the girls in the softball program as well as the coaches, makes me want to be a part of their family. Also, the size of the college draws my attention. I believe the smaller campus will allow me to have a better understanding in each of my classes. I wouldn't want to start my first year of college anywhere else."

Dubois plans to study health science at UHV to become a pediatrician or physical therapist.

Dubois joins Friendswood's Ashley Adkins, Harlingen's Ashley Reyna and Corpus Christi's Lisa Sosa as the fourth member of the 2018 signing class for Ortiz.
