
Former Calhoun High School standout pitcher Porsha Ramos has signed a letter of intent to join the University of Houston-Victoria's softball team for the 2010-11 season.
Ramos, a sophomore, transfers from Alvin Community College where she pitched one year for the Dolphins.
Four-time all-state pitcher Megan Carter has signed a letter of intent to play softball at the University of Houston-Victoria.
Carter, a freshman from Woodsboro, is a four-year letter winner for the Eagles and a four-sport athlete. Along with her outstanding softball career, she was an all-state performer in track and field and played volleyball and basketball.
For the third consecutive year, the University of Houston-Victoria softball team has been recognized as a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Scholar Team.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale as defined by the institution. The team grade point average must include all varsity student-athletes certified as eligible.
University of Houston-Victoria softball coach Keri Lambeth has announced the signing of two sophomore transfers from Our Lady of the Lake University to the Jaguars softball team.
Pitcher Dawn Villegas and second baseman/outfielder Corina Noel have committed to play for the Jaguars in the 2011 season.
