
UHV Jaguars head coach Terry Puhl added depth to his pitching staff with the signing of former University of Houston pitcher John Touchton and two more freshmen pitchers.
Touchton, a senior right hander, pitched three seasons for the Cougars before sitting out the 2010 season. During his three seasons with the Cougars, Touchton compiled a 10-12 record and two saves. He worked 126 innings allowing 96 runs on 156 hits and 49 walks, while striking out 88.
Sports have been a passion for Yoakum's Jesse Braden and the former Bulldog will continue his athletic career on the collegiate level after signing a letter of intent to play baseball at the University of Houston-Victoria.
Braden, a four-sport athlete at Yoakum, is expected to join the Jaguars in the outfield for the 2011 season.

Former Memorial Vipers standout Jeremy Urbano will continue his baseball career after signing a letter of intent to play baseball with the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars.

Edna shortstop Ray Chavarria was among five freshman to sign letters of intent to play baseball this week with the University of Houston-Victoria.
The five, all true freshmen, include Nick Garza, a catcher from Langham Creek; Brandon Bohanon, a catcher for Galena Park North Shore; Clayton Fowler, a pitcher for Katy Seven Lakes; Dylan Bates, an infielder from Houston; and Chavarria.

Some 50 to 60 prospect hit the field at Riverside Stadium on Thursday to participate in the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars baseball tryouts.
