Coach Terry Puhl

Entering his third season as head coach of the Jaguars, Puhl has compiled a record of 63 wins and 22 losses with the Jaguars.  The Jaguars enter the 2010 season ranked 32 in the country.  Highlights of 2009 include winning the inaugural Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Championship and a trip to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
 
in 2008, Puhl coached the Canadian Olympic Baseball Team at the Beijing Olympics.
 
Terry Puhl began his Major League Baseball career in 1977 with the Houston Astros. In his first Major League game, Puhl got his first hit and followed it with 1,360 more in a career that spanned 15 years and 1,531 games. Over his 15 year career, Puhl was a .280 hitter and one of the best defensive players to ever play the game. Puhl continues to hold the Major League Baseball all-time record for lifetime fielding percentage (.993) by an outfielder. In the post-season, Puhl batted .372 (16 for 43) in 13 games.

Highlights of Terry Puhl's career include being part of the Astros National League (NL) West Division championship teams in 1980 and 1986; being selected to the National League All-Star Team in 1978 and being named Canadian Baseball Player of the Year in 1981.

In the 1980 championship series against the Philadelphia Phillies, Puhl set a then NL Championship series record with a .526 batting average in a losing cause. Puhl was a key part of a strong nucleus of players that kept the Astros contending for championships during the late 1970's and 1980's.

In 1994, Puhl was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame. The following year, he was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. On November 10, 2006 Terry was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame.
