The sixth-ranked LSU-Shreveport Pilots took advantage of three University of Houston-Victoria errors in the seventh inning Monday night to complete their sweep of a doubleheader over the Jaguars with a 12-1 victory in the nightcap.

The Pilots captured the opening game with a 3-1 victory.

The Pilots (10-0) went into the seventh leading 4-1 and took advantage of the Jaguars' three miscues to blow the contest open. Tyler Alton and Manny Estrada highlighted the eight-run inning as Alton belted a three-run home and Estrada got the fireworks going with a bases-loaded, two-run double to left. Seven of the eight runs were unearned.

LSU-S jumped out quickly in the night cap behind a two-run homer to left by Greg Friesen. The Pilots added a solo run in the second on a perfectly executed squeeze bunt and went up 4-0 on an RBI single by Estrada in the fifth.

Ryan Suescun, who had the Jaguars (3-6) lone RBI in the opening game, broke up the shutout with an RBI ground out in the sixth.

Tanner Hamilton and Cory Hulsey opened the sixth with back-to-back singles to put runners at first and third. After Chad Kruse lined out, Suescun followed with a ground out to second that plated Hamilton.

Creighton Hoke was tagged with the loss for the Jaguars after allowing four runs on six hits and three walks with eight strikeouts over five innings. Jonathan Burnett picked up the win for the Pilots.

The Jaguars return to action Friday in San Antonio when they face the University of the Incarnate Word at 3 p.m. The two teams also meet Saturday in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. All games will be broadcast live on 1340-AM KVNN.

GAME NOTES: Hulsey has a hit in every game he has played in this season and is on an eight game hitting streak and leads the team with a .407 batting average. The four errors committed in Game 2 gives the Jaguars 23 on the season. Suescun's two RBIs on Monday has tied him with Juan Solis for the team lead with six.
