University of Houston-Victoria softball coach Keri Lambeth bolster her roster Wednesday with the signing of McClennan College transfer Ashley Shannon.

Shannon, a physical therapy major, played in 32 games for the Highlassie during the 2011 season and compiled a .304 batting average. The catcher/first baseman drove in six runs and scored six times behind two doubles and two home runs. She also drew 15 walks and had a .444 on-base percentage.

Shannon collected all-district and all-area honors as a catcher at Shoemaker High School in Killeen. She was also named the 2007 district rookie of the Year and compiled a .706 batting average with seven home runs and 20 RBIs.

She graduated in the Top 10 percent of her high school class, was a Texas Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, Who's Who Among American High School Students and was accepted into the Texas Bioscience Institute.
