University of Houston-Victoria junior Collin Schaaf (JR/Needville, TX) has been recognized as one of the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes.

Schaaf is one of 383 baseball student-athletes to be recognized for the national honor.

He is only the second UHV baseball player to earn the distinction joining former UHV ballplayer Ryan Gilbert, who earned the honor in 2011.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
