PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Even though the University of Houston-Victoria was the lone team competing in the NAIA Division the Jaguars' finish at the 31st annual PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship at the PGA Golf Club did not go unnoticed.

The Jaguars posted a final round 304 Sunday on the 6,845-yard, par-72 Wanamaker Course to finish the 54-hole event with a 925 score. It is the third title in four years for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars tournament finish would have been good enough to win the men's Division 2 event by two shots and would have given the Jaguars a third-place finish in the men's Division 1 tournament.

Lincoln University and the University of West Alabama, where former UHV coach Brian Williamson coaches, finished tied for the Division 2 title at 927, while Bethune-Cookman won the Division 1 title with an 875.

Juan David Coy (SO/Bucaramanga, Colombia) won individual honors in the NAIA Division as he paced the Jaguars with a 54-hole score of 229 after rounds of 75-77-77. Terry Strickland (FR/Missouri City, TX) and Cristian Esparza (JR/Houston, TX) finished tied for second at 231 as Strickland posted a 1-over-par 73 final round and Esparza an even-par 72.

James Rollins (FR/Liberty Hill, TX) posted a final round 85 to finish at 237 and Adrian Saenz (SO/Brownsville, TX) closed with an 82 for a 237.

A highlight show from the 31st annual event will air on the Golf Channel on Wednesday, July 25 from 10 to 11 p.m. and then re-air on July 11 and Aug. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m.
