TEXARKANA - Joshua Fonseca (SO/Pasadena, TX) and Derek Maciejeski (FR/Tomball, TX) sparked a five-run fourth inning Friday to help lift the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars to a 7-1 victory over the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles in a Red River Athletic Conference baseball game at George Dobson Field.

The Jaguars improved to 11-18 on the year and 7-9 in conference play, while the Eagles fell to 22-17, 10-6 RRAC. The two teams will wrap up the series Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first before the Jaguars came alive.

With one out, Chase Tamez (SO/Cypress, TX) and Dalton Rodriguez (SR/Bay City, TX) got the rally going with back-to-back singles to center and Chase Almendarez (JR/Round Rock, TX) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Fonseca then blasted a double to deep right-center scoring Tamez and Rodriguez for a 2-1 lead.

Blake Henneke (FR/Victoria, TX) grounded out 6-3 scoring Almendarez and Maciejeski followed with a double down the left-field line to score Fonseca for a 4-1 lead. Jacob Atkinson (SO/Harlingen, TX) then singled home Maciejeski for a 5-1 advantage.

The Jaguars would add a pair of insurance runs in the sixth.

Maciejeski delivered a one-out single to left and Atkinson followed with a double to left-center. Allen Westmoreland (SR/Pearland, TX)'s sacrifice fly plated Maciejeski and Tamez would slap a single to left scoring Atkinson.

Tamez and Maciejeski each had three hits, while Atkinson added two to leads the Jaguars' 10-hit attack.

Collin Quinn (FR/El Campo, TX) worked 7.1 innings allowing one run on five hits and three walks, while striking out five to earn the win to improve to 3-2 on the year. Ross Bludau (JR/Schulenburg, TX) tossed the final 1.2 scoreless innings allowing just a hit with four strikeouts.
