The UHV Jaguars dropped a pair of games to the LSUA Generals on Saturday.
ALEXANDRIA, La. – It was a battle of the top teams in the Red River Athletic Conference on Saturday as the 22nd-ranked LSU-Alexandria Generals captured two one-run victories over the 18th-ranked University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars.
The Generals (24-6, 7-1 RRAC) rallied from a four-run deficit to win Game 1 with a 5-4 victory and then held off a late Jaguars (14-10, 7-5 RRAC) rally in the nightcap for a 4-3 victory to take the four-game series three games to one.
UHV struck for four runs in the second inning of the opening game behind a sacrifice fly from Torey Dumont (SO/Pleasanton, TX), an RBI single by Michelle Revels (SO/Corpus Christi, TX) and a pair of LSUA errors.
The Generals would answer with a pair of runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to claim the win.
LSUA broke through with a four-run fourth and then fought to hold off the Jaguars after UHV struck back with three runs in the fifth.
After Gabby Davila (SO/Houston, TX) walked and Revels singled to left, Aubri Hockenbury (SR/Santa Fe, TX) hit her third home run of the series, a three-run shot to left on a 0-1 count.
But that would be all the Jaguars would muster the rest of the way against the Generals.
The Jaguars return home to host Texas Southern in non-conference play on Tuesday with a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.
