LONGVIEW – The University of Houston-Victoria men's golf team finished fifth overall and third in the university division Tuesday at the LeTourneau Pinecrest Intercollegiate.
The Jaguars posted a final round 308 to finish the 54-hole event with a 907 after opening with their best two rounds of the season (301-298) on Monday.
Tyler Junior College won the overall team title and the junior college division turning in rounds of 287-283-285-855. Murray State was four shots back at 295.
Webster University, third overall, won the university division with an 899, while LeTourneau was the runner-up with a 903.
James Rollins (FR/Liberty Hill, TX) paced the Jaguars tying for 12th after posting a 72-75-75-223, while Juan David Coy (SO/Bucaramanga, Colombia) followed just a stroke back at 224 with rounds of 73-73-78. Cristian Esparza (JR/Houston, TX) added a 78-71-78-227, Terry Strickland (FR/Missouri City, TX) a 78-80-77-235 and Adrian Saenz (SO/Brownsville, TX) an 89-78-89-256.
Tyler's Marco Maldonado won the overall individual title with a 71-68-71-210,, while Webster's Jon Hughes won the university division with a 73-70-70-213.
