Reece Hannigan, left, scored UHV's lone goal Saturday against Our Lady of the Lake.
SAN ANTONIO – The University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars saw their five-game win streak snapped Saturday in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Our Lady of the Lake Saints in a Red River Athletic Conference men's soccer match at the OLLU Soccer Field.
The loss also dashed the Jaguars hopes of a bye in the first round of the RRAC Tournament as they fall to 9-6-1 on the year and 5-3-1 in conference. OLLU captures the regular season RRAC title and Wiley College finishes second to earn the byes in the conference tournament.
The Jaguars will now host Texas College in the first round of the RRAC Tournament on either Friday or Saturday at the Cage.
The Jaguars had recorded five straight shutout wins and gone 480 minutes without allowing a goal. But that streak was snapped as well in the 65th minute when Angel Del La Garza's goal put the Saints (10-2-3, 6-0-3 RRAC) on top 1-0.
The Jaguars continued to fight back and tied the game in the 81st minute on a Reece Hannigan (JR/Sutton Surrey, England) goal off a corner kick from Marcus Watt (SR/Montrose, Scotland).
The Saints then converted the game win just over three minutes into overtime on a goal from Hugo Plasencia.
The Saints outshot the Jaguars 17-16, but the Jaguars held the edge in shots on goal 9-6. Stanley Smith (SR/Arlington, Tx) paced the Jaguars with four shots, while Hannigan and Gerardo Arriaga (JR/Houston, TX) each had three, and Taylor Gordon (SR/Falkirk, Scotland) and Watt two each.
Brian Redmond (SR/Tullamore, Ireland), who had held opponents scoreless for almost 545 minutes finished with four saves along with the two goals allowed.
