UHV goalkeeper Brian Redmond collected his fifth straight shutout Thursday in a win over Huston-Tillotson.
AUSTIN - The University of Houston-Victoria men's soccer team collected its school-record fifth straight shutout Saturday to move into a tie for second place in the Red River Athletic Conference with a 4-0 win over the Huston-Tillotson Rams.
It was the Jaguars' fifth straight win to help the team improve to 9-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference. The Jaguars are currently tied with Houston St. Thomas, who tied Our Lady of the Lake 1-1 Thursday, for second place in the conference race with one game to play.
The Jaguars face Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in San Antonio, while St. Thomas goes against Huston-Tillotson in Austin.
The shutout was Jaguars' goalkeeper Brian Redmond (SR/Tullamore, Ireland)'s fifth straight and 20th in his UHV career. Redmond and the Jaguars have not allowed a goal in just over 480 minutes. The last goal the Jaguars allowed came in the 80th minute of regulation in a 3-3 tie with Texas College.
Since that time Redmond and the Jaguars have recorded clean sheets against Jarvis Christian, St. Thomas, A&M-Texarkana, McMurry and HTU.
UHV received goals from Gerardo Arriaga (JR/Houston, TX), Jose Munoz (SO/Houston, TX), Isaac Ramirez-Garcia (FR/Victoria, TX) and Espen Hansen (SO/Kristiansand, Norway), while Brian Foulger (JR/Leighton Buzzard, England) assisted on Ramirez-Garcia's goal and Janai Zavala (SO/Houston, TX) had an assist on Hansen's goal.
