AUSTIN – The university of Houston-Victoria women's soccer team moved into second place in the Red River Athletic Conference on Thursday by extending their winning streak to eight games with a 2-1 win over the Huston-Tillotson Rams.
The Jaguars improved to 12-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in conference play to jump past Houston St. Thomas into second place. St. Thomas fell to Our Lady of the Lake 2-1 on Thursday.
UHV wraps up the regular season on Saturday facing off against OLLU in a 1 p.m. match in San Antonio.
Ashleigh Thurman (FR/Frisco, TX) and Emily Lupton (JR/Preston, England) scored the Jaguars' two goals with Tristen Hanks (FR/Frisco, TX) assisting on Thurman's goal and Valeria Hinojosa (SO/Bedford, TX) assisting on Lupton's goal.
The game was tight the entire way with each team getting off eight shots, with the Jaguars holding a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.
