WACO – James Rollins (FR/Liberty Hill, TX) and the University of Houston-Victoria men's golf team turned in seventh-place finishes Tuesday at the McLennan Community College Dr. Pepper Classic.
Rollins turned in a final round 74 on the par-72 Twin Rivers Golf Club to finish tied for seventh, while the Jaguars posted a final round 305 to finish seventh in the team standings with a 36-hole total of 621.
The Jaguars began the day tied for sixth with Tyler Junior College and McLennan B at 316. Tyler made the biggest move posting a final round 292 to finish second at 608, while the Jaguars finished 14 shots ahead of McLennan B.
New Mexico Junior College went wire-to-wire with the lead to win the tournament by 12 shots posting a 299-297-596.
Rollin, who began the day tied for 11th after an opening round 76, finished the tournament at 6-over par 150. Cristian Esparza (JR/Houston, TX) turned in a top-20 finish for the Jaguars as he tied for 20th after posting rounds of 82-73-155. Esparza's 73 was the Jaguars' best round of the day.
New Mexico's Luke Turbutt and Ben Tucker finished one-two in the individual standings. Turbutt posted a 2-under 142 with rounds of 70-72, while Tucker finished at 1-over with rounds of 75-70-145.
