The University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars men's soccer team should get a good early test on Saturday (Aug. 21) when they host the Lon Morris College Bearcats in a scrimmage game at the St. Joseph-O'Connor Sports Complex at 4 p.m.
The Bearcats, members of the National Association of Junior College Athletic Association, finished last season with a 9-5-1 record.
Top returnees for the Bearcats include sophomores Ryan Kulak, Ronnie Rocha and Zelaya Nelson. The three were among the Lon Morris scoring leaders last year. Kulak scored seven goals and had three assists, while Rocha and Nelson each added four goals and one assist apiece.
The Jaguars, members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, are in their inaugural season for men's soccer under the direction of coach Adrian Rigby.
The Jaguars roster includes 22 freshmen, four sophomores and four juniors. Among the players are junior transfers
Fredy Gallaga and Rudy Castrejon, both transfers from Lon Morris.
