Noreen Mohler, the U.S. captain for the 2010 Curtis Cup matches will be the guest speaker for the 2010 University of Houston-Victoria golf scholarship luncheon to be held September 9 at 11:30 a.m. at the UHV Multi-Purpose Room.

The luncheon is specially designed to allow those who have donated to the golf scholarship fund an opportunity to meet and mingle with the inaugural class of UHV golf scholarship recipients. The event is by invitation only.

The 2010 Curtis Cup, which featured match-play competition between the U.S. and Great Britain -Ireland, was held June 11-13 at Essex Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa. The U.S. won its seventh consecutive Curtis Cup with a 12 ½ - 7 ½ victory.

The Curtis Cup is a prestigious women's amateur event played in Ryder Cup format and is held biennially. The first Curtis Cup Match was played in 1932 at the Wentworth Club in England and was won by the Americans. The U.S. leads the series, 25-6-3.

Mohler was a member of the 1978 Curtis Cup championship team and played on the LPGA Tour in 1984 and 1985. She has also played in five U.S. Women's Opens and participated in seven U.S. Women's Amateur events and four U.S. Women's Senior Amateur events.

UHV will be debuting its inaugural men's and women's golf program during the 2010-11 season under the direction of men's coach Brian Williamson and women's coach Whitney Stromgrem.
