University of Houston-Victoria golf coach Whitney Stromgren announced the signing of a third recruit to the inaugural UHV women's golf program on Wednesday.

McLennan Community College sophomore Morgan DeSive will be joining her teammate Whitley Patterson this fall at UHV after signing a letter of intent to play golf with the Jaguars. Patterson became UHV's first golf signee in March.

DeSive is very familiar with the Victoria-area golfing history having been a member of the Corpus Christi Carroll golf team while in high school. During her high school career the Lady Tigers advanced to the regional tournament her junior and senior years and she was a member of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times' All-South Texas high school golf team her senior year.

DeSive and Patterson are coming off their second straight trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championships. The Highlassies finished fourth at nationals last year and moved up two spots with a second-place finish this year.

"Morgan will be able to step in and immediately make a positive impact on our women's golf program at UHV," Stromgren said. "I am thrilled to have Morgan as part of our team, she is a positive leader on and off the course."

At the NJCAA Championships, DeSive finished tied for 30th as she posted rounds of 87-84-79-250. Patterson finished 10th with a 74-76-79-229.

McLennan advanced to nationals by winning the NJCAA Region V Championships. At the regional championships DeSive finished tied for eighth with a three-day 249 after rounds of 83-85-81. She has broken the 80-mark three times this season with her low round being a 76 at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders Spring Classic.

She also participated in the Texas State Claud Jacobs Invitational at Victoria Country Club where she tied for 68th with an 81-86-87-254.

A Business major, DeSive has an 83.73 scoring average this season.
