Three senior members of the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars softball team have been named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar Athletes.
Utility player Claire McGee (Lufkin), catcher Brittany Faas (El Campo) and pitcher Tasha Rotramel (Lake Jackson) were among the 275 softball players to receive the honors announced Tuesday by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
McGee is an education major, Faas a psychology major, and Rotramel is a biology major.
"To have three scholar athletes selected off our team speaks highly of our program not only on the field, but off of it as well," UHV head softball coach Keri Lambeth said.
Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status with one full year at their institution to qualify.
