The University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars softball squad landed four players on the Association of Independent Institutions All-Conference softball team released May 5.
Seniors Izzy Glowney (The Woodlands) and Tasha Rotramel (Lake Jackson), along with juniors Allison Hinton (Matagorda) and Courtney Petitt (Deer Park) were among the 18 players named to the team.
"To have four players selected to the team speaks highly of our team," UHV Athletics Director Ashley Walyuhow said. "These four players were definitely deserving of the honor and have played big roles in the teams' success this season."
Rotramel, selected as a pitcher, compiled a 15-10 record with a 1.68 ERA in the regular season for the Jaguars. She started 22 games with 19 complete games as she allowed 44 runs on 104 hits and 44 walks with 140 strikeouts over 158 innings. She also tossed two no-hitters and has four for her career at UHV.
Glowney, a second baseman, compiled a .349 average with 29 RBI and a team-leading 45 runs scored. She also had 11 doubles, three triples and four home runs, along with a team leading 30 stolen bases.
Hinton, a third baseman, finished the regular season with a .364 average and led the team with 40 RBI and nine home runs. She scored 37 runs and had 10 doubles and three triples.
Pettit, a first baseman, paced the team with a .383 average with 36 RBI and 30 runs scored. She led the team with 18 doubles and had two triples and four home runs.
Simon Fraser sophomore pitcher Leah Riske was named A.I.I. Softball Player of the Year on Wednesday, while Cal State-San Marcos junior was named Pitcher of the Year. CSSM coach Dave Williams, in his first year with the school, was named the Coach of the Year.
Simon Fraser and the University of Houston-Victoria each had four players selected to the team, while Cal State-San Marcos and Ohio Dominican had three each, and the University of British Columbia two. LSU-Alexandria and Patten each had one player chosen to the team.
