University of Houston-Victoria redshirt-freshman Broc Haymon and junior David Baker were selected to the Association of Independent Institutions all-conference baseball team announced May 4.
Haymon (Bridge City) was selected as a starting pitcher, while Baker (Houston) was picked as the designated hitter.
"To have Broc and David make the team is a great honor for them" UHV Athletics Director Ashley Walyuchow said.
Haymon compiled a 5-2 record with a 1.48 ERA in the regular season. He had two complete games in eight starts for the Jaguars, tossing one shutout and picking up one save in 61 innings of work. He allowed 21 runs on 46 hits and 16 walks, while striking out 73.
"The teams' turnaround from a 1-10 start seemed to coincide with Broc's move to the starting rotation and his dominating performance this season," UHV head coach Terry Puhl said.
Baker compiled a .314 average in 45 games this season for the Jaguars going 43 for 137 at the plate with five doubles, a triple and a team-leading 11 home runs. He finished with 33 RBI and 28 runs scored.
"David is tied for the conference lead in home runs and has been one of our most consistent hitters since he joined us for our inaugural season in 2008," Puhl said. "I'm glad he is getting recognition that he deserves."
