Cal State-San Marcos pitcher Brenna Sandberg continued her dominance in the Association of Independent Institutions conference softball tournament Friday with her second straight no-hitter.

Sandberg, the conference pitcher of the year, struck out eight, walked two and hit a batter, while allowing just one University of Houston-Victoria hitter to hit a ball out of the infield in 1-0 victory. The win puts the Cougars into Saturday's 1:30 p.m. championship game.

Sandberg had to have a little defensive help in the sixth to keep her no-hitter alive as center fielder Elizabeth Bush made an outstanding diving catch on a sinking linker off the bat of Claire McGee.

Jaguars pitcher Tasha Rotramel was nearly as effective as she allowed just three hits and gave up an unearned run in taking the loss.

Rotramel retired the first eight batters she faced and was breezing along until the sixth.

The Cougars got a one-out bunt single from Alicia Ingram and Alyssa Dronenburg followed with a walk. Lauren Nelson then flied to center fielder Bre'Neka O'Bryant for the second out as Ingram advanced to third. O'Bryant's throw bounced away from shortstop Brittany Boren and Nelson raced home with the game's lone run.

LSU-Alexandria 5, Ohio Dominican 2

Joey Dixon used a two-run double in a four-run first inning to lift the LSU-Alexander Generals past Ohio Dominican in the first elimination game.

Dixon's one-out double came following Jessica Porcorello's RBI single that tied the game. Lauren Brossett added an RBI single in the inning, before the Panthers were able to escape further damage with an inning-ending double play.

The Panthers tallied solo runs in the first and second, but the Generals' Megan Rowe shut Ohio Dominican down the rest of the way.

Simon Fraser 6, Univ. British Columbia 1

Kelsey Haberl drove in three runs and Jessie Harris had a pair of RBI as Simon Fraser eliminated the University of British Columbia.

Simon Fraser tallied three runs in the third and fourth innings to secure the win.

Simon Fraser 9, LSU-Alexandria 1

Jess Martin ripped a three-run pinch-hit double in a six-run second as Simon Fraser eliminated LSU-Alexandria in a five-inning game called because of the mercy rule.

Simon Fraser would add three more runs in the third to blow open the contest.

LSUA took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first , but would get no more as they left the bases loaded in the fourth and fifth.
