The host University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars will be the number 3 seed in this year's NAIA-Association of Independent Institutions conference softball tournament, which begins Thursday May 6.

California State University- San Marcos (CSSM) is the number 1 seed, Simon Fraser University (SFU) is seeded second. As a result of earning the top seeds, the two schools will have a first round bye and play the winners of Thursday's first two games.

The six-team double elimination tournament also features Ohio Dominican (ODU), University of British Columbia (UBC) and LSU-Alexandria (LSUA), seeded 4, 5 and 6 respectively.

Tournament action will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 6 with the 4 and 5 seeds, Ohio Dominican and UBC squaring off. UHV, as the three seed, will take on 6th seeded LSUA at 1:30 p.m. The winner of the first game will take on #1 CSSM at 4 p.m. and the UHV, LSUA winner will play SFU at 6:30.

Tournament action will resume Friday, May 7 at 11 a.m. 3 other games will follow in the afternoon at 1:30, 4:00 and 6:00.

The championship game will be played the afternoon of Saturday, May 8.  Tickets for each day will be available at the gate for $7. $15 Tournament passes will be available at the UHV athletic office beginning Wednesday morning.

All tournament games will be played at Burdge Field, located in the St. Joseph High School- O'Connor Athletic Complex, 3006 North Cameron Street.

The tournament winner will automatically advance to the NAIA softball national championship in Decatur, Alabama May 20-26.
