After a close game with preseason ranked #24 Campbellsville University, the Lady Jaguars finished day two of the Orange Beach Invitational with a win versus conference opponent Ohio Dominican.

 

In game one versus Campbellsville the Jags answered back to a 2 run deficit with singles by Araceli Galindo and Courtney Pettit. Pettit had an RBI that scored Brittany Faas. Izzy Glowney singled to left field and Bre'Neka O'Bryant brought her in with a slap single tying the score at 2-2. Allison Hinton hit a double to right field, O'Bryant was called out at home.

The Jaguars went into extra innings scoring Glowney in the eighth with a sac bunt by O'Bryant and a single by Galindo. Campbellsville was able to pull ahead by moving runners on a sac bunt, a hit by pitch, and then 2 singles up the middle for the win.

The Jaguars were able to dominate Ohio Dominican in game two winning 4-0 in seven innings. Winning pitcher Baylea Wagener shut down their offense by allowing only 2 hits and striking out four. The Jaguars compiled 10 hits with a single and double by Glowney, single by O'Bryant, 2 singles by Pettit, single by DP Tasha Rotramel, a double by Claire McGee and a single and stolen base by Brittany Parker.

Bracket play began early at 9:30 Saturday morning when the Jags played Bethel University from Tennessee in the Silver Bracket.

The game began as a pitchers' duel with a score of 0-0 until the bottom of the fourth when Bethel pulled ahead 3-0 and then plating 2 more in the fifth. The Jaguars were unable to score until the top of the sixth when Glowney hit a single up the middle followed by single by O'Bryant. Hinton belted a 3 run homerun to move the game to 5-3. Unable to manufacture more runs, the Jaguars were eliminated from bracket play.

"This was a very competitive tournament. We have a very talented team and I know we can use this as a stepping stone for us to get better," Lambeth said. When asked about the upcoming national polls that will be released next Tuesday, March 23 , Lambeth said, "Its bigger than that. Nobody will remember who was ranked in Week #1. It's not about where you start, it's all about where you finish."

The Jags return to play in the Jaguar Invitational this weekend at Burdge Field. Friday the Jaguars will play Huston-Tillotson at 3:00 p.m. and will take on Oklahoma Baptist at 7:00 p.m.
